Fix WiFi driver after kernel update
If you have a Broadcom BCM4315 802.11 Hybrid Wireless Controller on a Dell Vostro 1520 laptop computer and you run Kubuntu 10.04 Lucid Lynx, you may be experiencing trouble after a kernel update via Kubuntu update manager: the WiFi is gone !
Restore WiFi connectivity in one or two steps:
- force reinstall of the Broadcom drivers:
sudo apt-get install --reinstall bcmwl-modaliases bcmwl-kernel-source
- if that is not enough to reactivate the WiFi, enter stand-by (suspend to RAM) and wake up again.
