smfpd, the useless daemon installed by Samsung printer drivers sucks
I own a Samsung CLP-…N network (ethernet) printer so I have installed on debian the Samsung Unified Linux Driver. This includes smfpd, Simple MFP Daemon to “provide access to parallel port via tcp”. Who uses parallel ports anymore ?
Running the Überutility powertop I realized that this small bastard alone was responsible for 75% of the CPU interrupt wakeups !
Stop and uninstall via:
/etc/init.d/smfpd stop rm /etc/init.d/smfpd
